The Toccolan Club
The Toccolan Club is a group consisting of members of the Italian community in Australia. The club is named after Tocco, a small settlement on the hills in Italy, to which many of the club’s members can trace their ancestry. When the Second World War happened, many of its inhabitants fled and made way for places like the United States. A lot of them came to Australia. Today, those original members have blossomed into a remarkable group of people who share fun and opportunities. Established in 1990, the motto of the group is “Fun, Friendship and Fundraising.”
Friendship and Camaraderie
One of the organisation’s central goals is to boost friendship amongst people of Italian descent in Australia. It is true that without a formal organisation, people will still come close together and cooperate, especially if they share close affinities such as common ancestry. However, we can all agree that such a level of engagement and friendship will be quite limited. For one, the scale of those engagements will be severely capped. People cannot randomly become friends with a whole lot of people at once. If that is the case, people lose out on the benefits of being in the community where they share common characteristics. The Toccolan Club essentially solves this. By bringing together people of Italian descent under a common umbrella, we get to engender unity and foster meaningful and highly rewarding relationships and Partnerships both on the collective and personal levels. We encourage this friendship via a lot of meetups, dinners, and other social outings.
Personal Advancement
Through the relationships fostered at the Toccolan Club, a lot of personal advancement happens on various levels. For instance, people get to rub minds together during our gatherings and discuss and share business and other helpful ideas. Many business partnerships have been born in Toccolan Club, some of which have grown to become successes. If anyone sets up a business, they have a primary customer base in the Italian family, as typified by the Toccolan Club. Also, members of the club with access to important referrals due share such with other members. With this, every member grows in the personal, business, career, and other segments of their lives.
Societal Advancement
By far, one of the most important works we do at Toccolan Club is that we make efforts to advance the society and community around us. The community is where we are based, and we make very conscious and impactful efforts to ensure that it moves forward. One of the most notable ways through which we do is charity. We have been able to help underrepresented and underprivileged members of our society by raising funding to solve their problems. In doing this, we have partnered with and provided funding to some of the world’s most prestigious organisations. These include The Leukemia Foundation, The Royal Children’s Hospital, The Anti-Cancer Council, The Asthma Foundation, World Vision, and many more. We have been able to provide business and other forms of assistance to the economically disadvantaged.
